Seneca Berniard Connor is the founder and creative force behind The Bag Icon, a women-owned luxury handbag brand redefining what modern elegance looks like. Her journey blends resilience, purpose, and refined design — proving that luxury can be both meaningful and accessible.

A Legacy of Elegance and Love 

Elegance, humor, generosity, and unconditional love are not simply values Seneca admires — they are the pillars upon which her life and work are built. That foundation became even more profound after she lost her mother suddenly on Mother’s Day to frontal temporal lobe dementia. 

In honor of her mother’s legacy, Seneca designed a handbag that would become more than an accessory. It became a tribute. Through The Bag Icon, a portion of proceeds is donated to the Dementia Society of America, supporting awareness and research for a disease that disproportionately impacts the Black community — a cause deeply personal to Seneca. 

From Personal Loss to Purpose-Driven Luxury 

As a Black woman and entrepreneur, Seneca is keenly aware of the gaps in both representation and advocacy within fashion and healthcare. Her brand stands at the intersection of beauty and responsibility — offering thoughtfully designed luxury handbags while supporting a meaningful mission. 

Through The Bag Icon, Seneca challenges the idea that luxury must come with excessive price tags or exclusion. Instead, she champions affordable luxury handbags that empower women to invest in their style without sacrificing their financial goals.

Beyond her role as a founder and creative director, Seneca’s greatest joy is her family. She is a wife and a proud mother to her spirited six-year-old son, Ronan — the light of her life and her daily reminder of what truly matters.
